Pop star and songwriter Katy Perry was born in California in 1984 and had her first hit song with 2008’s “I Kissed a Girl”, from her album, One of the Boys, which also featured the hits “Hot n Cold” and “Waking up in Vegas.”

Katy Perry’s next album, Teenage Dream, topped the Billboard 200 chart and featured five number one hit songs, including “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)”, making Perry the first female in history to achieve so many number one hits on one album. Perry has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards.

Despite Katy Perry’s conservative background (bother her parents are pastors), the singer is known for her candy-coloured hair, risqué PVC ensembles and quirky fruit and cake-shaped accessories. She has released two fragrances, Purr and Meow, and voiced Smurfette in the 2011 film, The Smurfs.

Katy Perry started dating comedian Russell Brand in 2009, and the couple were wed in October, 2010, in a Hindu ceremony in India. After 14 months of marriage, Perry and Brand filed for divorce in December 2011, citing irreconcilable differences. Katy Perry is currently rumoured to be dating male model and Karl Lagerfeld muse, Baptiste Giabiconi.
