Hey Frankie Sandford, Is That Faux Fur?

Get updates from Kate McAuley:

Who? The Saturdays' Frankie Sandford

frankie sandford

What? The singer, who's in town to hit London Fashion Week, was spotted last night in a two-toned fur coat, which she matched with leather trousers and a pair of gigantic nude heels.

Where? London, 15 February

Verdict? We'll leave it to PETA to work out the jacket's origin and reserve our comments for the rest. There's no denying that Frankie looks beautiful and those leather pants suit her, but those shoes? Really?

Would like to see Frankie in her natural environment? Have a flick through our gallery below.

Her trousers are plastic (topshop last season) and the coat is fake (H&M) and she's gorgeous. Ridiculous, pointless article.

Animals are skinned alive for their fur because the fur comes off easier. Even if it is faux fur or not the trousers are leather and have came from a animal. A lot of people think leather is a by product but mostly it is animals that are bred specially. The soft leather comes from a male calf after being taken away from his mother only a day old and slaughtered.

Dog wearing a dog is all i see here!
06:17 PM on 02/16/2013
Just to clarify...it's faux fur and available from H&M
04:18 AM on 02/17/2013
I was unaware until yesterday that so called 'faux' fur can actually be from a dog or cat. I was a bit shocked to be honest as I am against animal cruelty.
05:03 AM on 02/17/2013
If you look at H&M's policy in relation to the materials it uses, I think it's safe to say their faux fur isn't cat or dog ;o)
04:50 AM on 02/17/2013
Which H&M? Just looked on their site and saw no such thing. Please provide the link. Looks like fox to me.
05:06 AM on 02/17/2013
You can't provide links within the comment section. I tried and it gets removed. I can't see it online, but it is available in stores.

If you go to twitter, and search for H&M United Kingdom they have stated that it is theirs and faux fur.

See if this works:

@hmunitedkingdom: The forever flawless @FrankieTheSats wraps up warm looking gorgeous in our faux fur jacket, available in stores now!

Animals are used for lots of products, not just clothing. Cigarettes, Lipstick and nail polish, Flu Vaccine, Wine & Beers, Worcestershire sauce, Fabric softener, Sugar etc. Oh, and of course there's the Cochineal insect which is used to colour many food and drink products.

She might want to check (if those pants are leather) that they arm't actually horse (?)
05:12 PM on 02/16/2013
I do not support anyone who wears real fur. Pathetic!
06:16 PM on 02/16/2013
Luckily it's fake then eh?
11:27 AM on 02/17/2013
Don't believe everything you read.

Its very very very rare that a designer labelled fur coat would ever be made by using wild animals, infact its more likely never. The quality of the fur just would not cut the mustard, they have to be pristine Think about it pristine fur means animal has to be pristine in condition. Animals are generally farmed. Britain has some of the most stringent legislations in regards to fur farming, but Peta and its brigade of merry followers have chased away all the British Farmers, these farms have now moved abroad where animals are kept under less stricter rulings. Way to go Peta!! Peta and its releasing of non wild animals was and is the single stupidest thing they could do. Not only does the animal not know how to survive but also minks nearly wiped out certain British species like the Shrew.
I see fur no different to leather products, the same with Sheepskin. I wonder how many wear a certain New Zealand boot.called UGGs!?

People need educating so that they can make up your own minds, not force fed lies on a flier by a group that's sole aim is to make everyone Vegetarian.
11:30 AM on 02/17/2013
We would probably all be better off being vegetarian, heaven only knows what they are putting in our food! The recent horse meat scandal is a perfect example. UK labelling laws, useless!
02:41 PM on 02/16/2013
PETA euthanise more animals than they save so forget them as pro animal. Regarding the people who let mink free from fur farms, thanks for contributing to the destruction of local flora and fauna. Man has eaten meat and worn animal fur since our time began and it will not change just because a very small minority don't like it!

I'd rather see her jacket (and trousers) in their 'natural environment'!
03:15 PM on 02/16/2013
Yes! On my bedroom floor :D
01:03 PM on 02/16/2013
Her Jacket and her trousers looked better on the animal they were ripped from - no matter what animal they came from!
03:58 PM on 02/16/2013
What animals wear Jackets and Trousers???
12:52 PM on 02/16/2013
I know 'style' can be pretentious, but you're allowed to say fake instead of faux..
12:48 PM on 02/16/2013
I love the way everyone is so focused on the 'fur' coat, what about the 'leather' trousers and possibly the leather used to make the shoes?

For me it would depend on the fur actually used to make the jacket. If the fur is from a sustainable source, such as rabbit rather than a wild animal then I don't see what the problem is. We breed/farm rabbit specifically for its meat, largely to be used in cat and dog foods (so those who feed these to their pets should take a step straight off the soap box). It would be truly wasteful if the fur wasn't also used as well.

It's almost as though acceptability is based on the whether we recognize the animal via the colour of its fur rather the actual 'material' itself.

Funny how this 'no news' item can so easily make it onto the My Daily page due to the fur on show when no mention is ever made of the leather bags, coats, belts and shoes etc. worn daily by other celeb's. Somewhat of a double standard I think........ or perhaps its just a hurried and easy subject with an upcoming deadline?

Doncha' just hate people who wear baseball caps back to front? Still, this one has got the right message on his....well....there but for mixing up the letter 'A' with 'EE'.

Kate, maybe you should worry about what YOUR wearing and let other people decide for themselves.
