Get updates from Katie Jones:

The Duchess of Cambridge visited the National Portrait Gallery this morning and guess what? Her baby bump is starting to show.

Kate looked radiant in another high street design from Whistles, she paired the Sofia Rae dress with black accessories (note the carefully placed clutch bag which she held throughout the engagement - clever but we can still see a bump).

So what were the Duke and Duchess at the gallery for? No, it wasn't just a cultural visit. The couple were viewing Paul Emsley's portrait of Kate, which was unveiled for the first time today. Let's hope she approved...

The new so-called 'portrait' of the Dutchess of Cambridge is utter rubbish - the wanabe 'artist' has aged her by at least 20 years and has added some 30lbs to her weight. Her hair has the texture of dried-on ice cream. The Metropolitan Police would be truly ashamed if this were a careless mug shop fired off by a Hendon trainee of a slag caught shoplifting at Harrods! In the vidclips you can see her mouthing 'thank you' through gritted teeth and a very forced smile. The Duke of C. can hardly conceal his utter repulsion and disappointment and I bet that the space he has cleared on his wall for it at home will quickly be filled with something else! Can you imgine that face staring down into the crib containing the expected new born royal?

I think the painting is an excellent representation of Kate, it's beautifully painted and the artist should be proud of it. Okay, any opinion of a painting regardless or not it being a Royal or otherwise will be subjective. If you study any recent photo of Kate she will have a different look almost every day; depending on how tired she is or what stresses she has at the time. I have painted many fine art portraits and from the very start I soon realised that I had to use some artistic licence eg. Make the portrait look better than reality. If I had painted her, I would certainly have used that licence.

John Myatt who painted Catherine Tate's portrait should have been the one to do Kate's portrait. By the way, I can't see any bump. Kate is still slim as ever.

Why bother with a portrait of her face? It seems bumps are more important.

Perhaps done as a cost cutting exercise then! A variation on a BOGOF. i.e. See how you will look in
whatever. Sounds reasonable in these days of We're all in it together Great selling point for the Royals. Of course not all will agree.
06:59 AM on 01/13/2013
Difficult to see the point of them really; a huge burden on the state and expensive to run for a tourist attraction
05:59 AM on 01/12/2013
I do not see a baby bump yet! She might of put 2 pounds on! I wish her the best!
05:40 AM on 01/12/2013
Another busy day in the life of the royals - yawn!!!

In my opinion the painting is lifelike - she is 31 not 21!!
