Emma Stone Reminds Us Why We Love The LBD

After a sartorial triumph at the LA premiere on Monday, Emma Stone's promotional tour for Gangster Squad continued with an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Tuesday night.

Breaking news, not quite, but if we were ever in any doubt over our love affair with the little black dress, Stone has gone and shown us exactly why it will always be hailed as a style classic. (Karl Lagerfeld taught us "one is never over-dressed or underdressed with a little black dress", after all).

The actress arrived on set in this simple but sleek J. Mendel dress (being able to get your hands on pre-fall designer wear always helps) , with cut-out detailing and a not-too-flashy slit.

As for the accessories? There were none. A tomato red lip colour and a pair of Louboutins were all she needed. Well played.
