hahahahahahaha.... I reckon they'll move to Buck house, sell this place and pocket the profit. The only mitigating feature is that he will have paid £250,000 in Land tax, assuming he isn't exempt from that.

Going by the whining around here, people don't seem to get it.

This country is what is called a "Constitutional Monarchy".

If you don't like it, start pushing for it to become a republic.

I am generally pro-republic. However, the one thing that QE2 and her family does do, is eliminate the thought of El-Presidenté Blair.

Much as I would wish for this country to dump its Germanic parasitical family, the thought of a creature like Blair being President is even more scary, so I will leave you with this ancient (I believe Chinese) proverb;

"Be careful for what you wish for, for one day, it may come true"

Good God, do these people have no humility? This £5 million comes from our taxes. The Royals are becoming as much a burden to those struggling to make ends meet as foreign aid. Nice birthday present and I really hope it makes her pregnancy that much more enjoyable but it might have been more diplomatic not to mention it as glibly with most other people in the doldrums. Such a lie - "we're all in it together". Evidently there are different levels of togetherness.

I have to confess to turning somewhat anti-Royal what with Kate's very serious morning sickness that miraculously disappeared so she could present the sports awards. They won't enamour themselves to people the way they're going.

I have just heard that £300m foreign aid went adrift in Ethiopia and India (total 600m) and another £100m in another African country. Money apparently went to people it was not intended for, although this government is denying it. That and the bombshell of this £5m house as a birthday present from our taxes!!! Why do we put up with it. Isn't it time for a UK Spring?

You miss the point; the inheritance money goes back to the 10th century. Some of the wealth was confiscated from the people during the period when the Monarchy was the absolute ruler. This boy is given a free Apartment at Kensington palace. As a future King he should not flaunt his wealth when many in the UK are struggling. That 5 million and many more millions should be given to charity. Warren Buffet and Bill Gates did not inherit their wealth worked hard and established businesses that employed many people. They are now donating a large portion of their wealth to charity. The Monarchy were given privilege by the people and should show humility. They should not be showing off with designer clothing that cost perhaps 10,000 pounds.

Why do you assume that it isn't coming from our taxes? If it was his mum's money, given the timing and circumstances relative to the rest of us, it might have been prudent to mention that in the article.

right about time the press stopped bumming these guys up. I am in a good position right so its not the jel bells ringing. I know loads of people really working hard and struggling so hearing these pair of spoilt brats are spending 5 milliion on them selves sticks in the throat. there needs to be a statement from the public saying get lost do not need you lot. she is going down the same road as diana lessons are not being learned she is pregnant big deal another royal pounce to keep.

I don't think that spending that amount of money on another place when Kensington Palace is being remodled to there expectations and is costing a fortune should I say not be made public with all the people here in the UK that are only just getting by The royals are already disliked by most so why when the press say Wills and Kate will be different and hope to spend less on things that they really do need go and make this public I do not believe they are any different than the other royals money wasters and will do what they want no matter what others think. I sure do not want to be around when they take the thrown

Why buy a house elswhere because Kate is pregnant what is wrong with their house on Anglesey I am from there and it is a beautiful place surely if she needs help from her family they would probably be delighted with Anglesey. If every female who was pregnant moved house out of prying eyes just think what this country would be like Kate stay where you are and William buy something less expensive.
