Who? Katy Perry and Selena Gomez

What? Katy added a dash of vintage Hollywood and a pinch of vamp to the Unicef Snowflake Ball. The singer wowed in a Naeem Khan dress, complete with shall, and a pair Guiseppe Zanotti shoes - although her sparkling flower-detail gown was so long you couldn't see them... she could have been wearing Crocs (bleugh) for all we know.

Actress and Justin Bieber's on-again-off-again-on-again girlfriend Selena also took a walk on the gothic side in an equally glamourous Dolce & Gabbana floor-length dress.

Verdict? Katy's dress has caused a style rift within Team MyDaily (perhaps we were just put off by Katy's rabbit in the headlights facial expression), whereas Selena's take on glitzy goth has us wanting to slip into that slinky D&G number ourselves.

Wrong, wrong, wrong! Just because there is black in an outfit, doesn't make it Goth! Of all the comments regarding fashion sensibilities, this is one of the most misused and poorly understood area of the Goth sub-culture. We are all aware that a Goth is far more than fashion, make-up and music. It is the attitude, the non-judgmental character of the community and alternative to mainstream, "normal" lifestyles that create the foundation for the Goth Community. Wearing an elegant black dress has nothing to do with that and neither of them are remotely Gothic Ellen. We, at Vampirefreaks.com, certainly understand the peculiarities and uniqueness of our community and to lump often vapid, soulless celebrity communities into our own is considered blasphemy to many in the Vampirefreaks.com community as a whole. We'll be preparing a comprehensive response to these constant comparisons within the next week.
