US Elle unveils its Women in Hollywood issue this month and who better to take the cover spot than style icon of the silver screen, Sarah Jessica Parker.

From a Calvin Klein halter dress (seen on the cover) to a cherry blossom Alexander McQueen number, this shoot sees SJP get her hands on the biggest names in high fashion. However, in her interview with the magazine, she did confirm that her Carrie Bradshaw days are over. Parker says, "I don’t love the idea of playing another woman who loves fashion and is slightly flawed in New York City. I loved Carrie, and I don’t want to do the poor man’s version of her. And while those are often the lucrative things to do, it’s more reason to look in the other direction".

Octavia Spencer and Emma Watson also strike a pose in Elle's photo shoot, and along with their fellow Women in Hollywood honorees (Elle Fanning and Cate Blanchett to name a few), the leading ladies will attend an awards ceremony in Los Angeles later this month. We predict a style showdown.

7th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, 2001, L.A. SJP took home a statue for Outstanding Female Performance on Sex and the City at the 2001 SAGs, and bared her enviable six-pack in an embellished bandeau top.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
59th Annual Golden Globe Awards, 2002, L.A. Parker got an award for acting, but no marks for style on this occasion: the embellished Chanel jumpsuit with voluminous overskirt looks too tent-like on the red carpet. The star's cute bob and camellia accessory are a sweet touch, though.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
Sex and the City Season 5 premiere, 2002 The pregnant star shows off her curves - and gorgeous glow - in this fitted pink empire-line dress.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
60th Annual Golden Globes, 2003, L.A. Garish makeup, a cheap-looking bustier top and satin trousers plunge this look into disastrous fashion territory for the star.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
Sex and the City premiere, 2003, New York The star works a romantic silhouette in a frilly frock and velvet jacket, and adds some kooky accessories like fishnet tights and clashing red suede peep-toes. Her tendency to funkify a classic look with an unusual accessory is already apparent.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
55th Annual Emmy Awards, 2003, L.A. The actress has a red carpet hit in this strapless Chanel confection at the 2003 Emmy Awards - the flawless hair, makeup and accessories make this her best look to date.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
Christian Dior show, 2004, Paris This daring ensemble with exaggerated poufy sleeves that SJP chooses for the Dior spring/summer couture show could veer towards costume-y on the majority of people, but Parker looks chic and polished.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
61st Annual Golden Globes, 2004, L.A. The star scores a fashion hit - and takes home an award - in this intricately embellished dress from one of her go-to labels, Chanel.

Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
1th Annual Screen Actor's Guild Awards, 2005, L.A. SJP doesn't necessarily do the floor-length thing at the big awards shows, but that doesn't make her look any less elegant. We love her in this polka dot frock by Yves Saint Laurent.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
Costume Institute Gala, 2006, New York Sarah Jessica Parker in Alexander McQueen's tartan-and-tulle ball gown. A match made in iconic fashion history and one of SJP's best-ever looks.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
Film Society of Lincoln Center's 34th Annual Gala Tribute to Diane Keaton, 2007, New York The actress takes a style cue from alter-ego Carrie Bradshaw with wild curls and eye-grabbing accessories at this event in 2007, which she teams with a figure-skimming Peter Soronen dress.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
Valentino 45th Anniversary celebrations, 2007, Rome The star dazzles in Valentino as she celebrates the designer at a fashion show and exhibition for him in Rome. The jacket is a little fusty, but it looks elegant rather than ageing on the star.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
Smart People screening, 2008, New York We love the way SJP plays with colour and proportion in this vibrant Jil Sander jacket, navy Marni top and fitted leather leggings.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
Sex and the City: The Movie world premiere, 2008, London Sarah Jessica cuts a striking figure in this green strapless chiffon Alexander McQueen dress and elaborate butterfly fascinator by Philip Treacy. Without a doubt, one of her most memorable red carpet looks.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
Sex and the City: The Movie premiere, 2008, New York Parker stuns in this silver metallic Nina Ricci frock, designed by Olivier Theyskens. But the actress was disappointed when she learned the fashion house had allowed her to wear a "repeat" dress that socialite Lauren Santo Domingo had worn to the Met Ball and Lindsay Lohan had sported in a Disney advertising campaign.
Style Evolution: Sarah Jessica Parker
Sex and the City: The Movie - Extended Cut DVD launch event, 2008, New York The actress works a sexed-up Holly Golightly look on the red carpet, with sheer gloves, funky red peep-toes and a polished updo. Not one of our favourite looks from the star.
