The nights are drawing in and it is officially cold, but if you don't fancy fleeing the country for somewhere more exotic, we've found five ways to celebrate Autumn here in the UK. (Woolly jumpers might be needed).
From a Welsh countryside retreat to the great outdoors of North Yorkshire, here's our pick of the best cosy cabins to enjoy this season:

Jackson's Cabin, The Brake, Devon
Everything here is handmade or handed down: Nick & Dolly's favourite books fill the shelves of the old Welsh dresser, and eclectic items collected on their travels dot the wood-panelled interior of this cosy cabin. The living space, sleeping two in the double and the children in bunks, gives neatly into an open-plan kitchen and dining area, and outside is a garden all your own, screened from the main house by a weeping willow.Jackson's Cabin isn't the only gem on the acre of land that makes up The Brake; there's a cob oven, a wood-fired sauna, Nick's carpentry workshop and Dolly's art studio. From £80 per night (sleeps 4), Jackson's Cabin
Balleswidden Cabin, near Penzance, Cornwall
Walk up the path to Balleswidden Cabin and you will feel like you've discovered an uninhabited island.. Outside, the cabin looks like a funky shack, but inside, it surprises you at every turn with stylish luxury. Originally built as a writer's lodge, it's stocked with shelves of books and a big, red leather Chesterfield to curl up on. Make fire in the wok on the deck and sizzle something for dinner. Up a wooden ladder, and tucked under the eaves, is a mezzanine bedroom perfect for two to snuggle into. The bathroom has full-size claw-foot tub and there's a little room for little ones. From £80 per night (sleeps 3) - Balleswidden Cabin
Caban Coch, Beudy Banc, Powys
Relax in the quiet Welsh countryside or tear up and down it on miles of custom built bike trails. The choice is yours in this great cabin. The Caban, artfully crafted by its owner from an old hay trailer, is a great escape tucked away in the hills of Wales. Inside there's an eclectic mix of vintage finds punctuated with homespun soft furnishing that results in a cosy retreat full of character and light from its large windows. Outside are miles of bike trails, some of them right to your front door, and acres of lovely countryside to explore. Cedar Falls, Wye Valley, Monmouthshire
This Swedish designed cabin is a simple space offering peace, seclusion and beer. It's named after the nearby waterfall that's quite spectacular after a good rainfall. On arrival you're greeted with a hamper of extremely local produce. Owners Edward and Tori make the bread and the beer respectively at the Meadow Farm shop just down the hill and a stroll out of Tintern. The cabin is hidden at the bottom of the garden and the deck looks out down the Wye Valley which often fills with mist in the morning. Inside, there's a big comfy double bed and two single mattresses in the loft room. From £80 per night (sleeps 4) - Cedar Falls
Heather Glen, The Bivouac, North Yorkshire
The shacks are Sam & Beth's labour of love; rustic family spaces where you can relax or take to the great outdoors. The shacks themselves are beautifully constructed. They are off grid but creature comforts have been replicated with ingenuity and style. The custom made terracotta cold store is a marvel, there are gas hobs and a wood-burning range which also heats the shower. There is so much to do and see that you could stay for a month and still not want to leave, whatever age you are. Activities as diverse as foraging, musical workshops, craft skills and story tellings are all available, plus there's miles of hiking and cycling. From £85 per night (sleeps 4) - Heather Glen
