The premieres for one of the year's most highly anticipated movies - Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises - have begun, meaning we're gearing up for an onslaught of pictures of Marion Cotillard and Anne Hathaway in gorgeous outfits.

To kick us off we have two pale gowns fresh from the New York premiere:

Marion is in an ivory above-the-knee Dior Couture dress with a ruffled skirt and strappy Louboutin shoes (which is making us think a little of Mila Kunis actually)

Anne opted for a floor length white Prabal Gurung gown with a plunging neckline and a surprise peplum detail (we say "surprise" simply because it feels a little jarring and we don't think we like it).

In man fashion news, virtually every male star of the movie showed up in a black suit except Gary Oldman who has probably clocked up enough stamps on his red carpet loyalty card to wear whatever he likes and Joseph Gordon Levitt who appears to be attending the event as Gossip Girl's Chuck Bass.

Whereas Anne hath a way of looking elegant, despite that incongruous modesty-afterthought peplum...
