As Kristen's the current face of their fragrance, our money lies with Balenciaga. Although the fashion house haven't showcased any Cannes-worthy gowns over the past few seasons, we'd love to see K-Stew in a full-length version of the red and black leather number above...

- Kirsten Dunst<p> Dunst's Rodarte gown has to be in the top five best dresses of Cannes this year. She looked gorgeous at the <em>Melancholia</em> premiere.</p>

- Kirsten Dunst<p> Dunst dressed down for her <em>Melancholia</em> photo call in a chiffon <em>Chloé dress</em>. Top marks for finding the perfect lip colour to match this difficult shade.</p>

- Charlotte Gainsbourg<p> Gainsbourg flashed her baby bump in a sheer gown at the premiere of <em>Melancholia</em>.</p>

- Jodie Foster<p> Foster stepped out in a beautiful Balenciaga gown at the premiere of <em>Melancholia.</em></p>

- Milla Jovovich<p> Jovovich looked ever the vintage vixen as she arrived at the premiere of <em>La Conquete</em> in a sequin embellished Prada design.</p>

- Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie<p> Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie brought some serious star power to the Cannes red carpet, when they stepped out at the premiere of Brad's latest film, <em>Tree of Life</em>. And while Mr Pitt was dapper in tux and bow tie - orange-tint glasses excluded - Ms Jolie went all out in an all-encompassing Atelier Versace gown.</p>

- Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie<p> Brad and Ange made their grand Cannes entrance by walking down the red carpet staircase outside the Palais des Festivals - and check out the thigh-high split in Angelina's frock.</p>

- Angelina Jolie<p> Angelina Jolie gave the photographers a better look at that stunning chocolate brown gown, which featured oversized hip ruffles and a full, theatrical skirt.</p>

- Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani<p> Gavin and Gwen were another star couple at the <em>Tree of Life </em>premiere, with Ms Stefani sparkling in a plunge-neck Stella McCartney jumpsuit.</p>

- Zoe Saldana<p> Zoe Saldana brought a welcome splash of colour to the <em>Tree of Life</em> premiere in her standout candy stripe Armani Privé dress.</p>

- Jude Law<p> Cannes jury member Jude Law struck a pose for the photographers, in a grey suit and staple shades.</p>

- Mia Wasikowska<p> <em>Alice in Wonderland</em>'s Mia Wasikowska went nude for the big premiere, in this beautiful sheer-bodice Valentino Couture dress.</p>

- Rob Lowe and wife Sheryl<p> A dashing Rob Lowe was in also attendance with wife Sheryl - in a slinky long black dress.</p>

- Victoria Silvstedt<p> Blonde bombshell Victoria Silvstedt cut a striking sillhouette in this shimmering silver number - but it was a tad OTT for our taste.</p>

- Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain<p> It's not just the A-list ladies that are loving the head-to-toe white wash this season: Brad Pitt tapped the trend in his summery suit. The actor was joined by Jessica Chastain in a scarlet Oscar de la Renta dress at the photocall for<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span><em>Tree of Life</em>.</p>

- Fan Bing Bing<p> Day five of Cannes Film Festival was another day of outstanding style. Chinese actress Fan Bing Bing pulled out all the stops at <em>The Artist</em> premiere, in this stunning Atelier Versace gown.</p>

- Sonam Kapoor<p> Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor sashayed down the red carpet at <em>The Artist</em> premiere in this striking Jean Paul Gaultier couture design, with sheer structured overlay.</p>

- Li Bing Bing<p> Li Bing Bing was seriously bridal at <em>The Artist </em>premiere, in this theatrical Georges Chakra Couture gown.</p>

- Elizabeth Olsen<p> She may not be quite as recognisable as her older Olsen twin siblings, but Elizabeth Olsen is quietly carving herself out a serious name in the film industry. And naturally she was supporting her sisters by wearing a dress from their collection The Row, at the <em>Martha Marcy May Marlene</em> photocall.</p>

- Vanessa Hudgens<p> High School Musical starlet Vanessa Hudgens was looking all grown up at the Cannes Grey Goose Vodka party, in a shimmering Roberto Cavalli frock.</p>

- Penelope Cruz and Johnny Depp<p> The big celeb draw for day four of Cannes, was undoubtedly the <em>Pirates of the Caribbean </em>premiere. And of course, Penelope Cruz and Johnny Depp were representing in style, with the former in a stunning lilac Marchesa dress, and the latter dapper in monochrome.</p>

- Uma Thurman<p> Cannes judge Uma Thurman was also on the <em>Pirates </em>red carpet, showcasing understated elegance in Chanel Couture.</p>

- Clemence Poesy<p> <em>Gossip Girl</em>'s Clemence Poesy struck a pose on the <em>Pirates </em>red carpet in this beautiful pale blue off-the-shoulder dress, which she teamed with deep teal shoes.</p>

- Jane Fonda<p> Having wowed in white at the <em>Sleeping Beauty </em>premiere, Jane Fonda turned to the dark side for the <em>Pirates </em>premiere, in a figure-hugging long-sleeve gown.</p>

- Robert De Niro and Grace Hightower<p> Robert De Niro was accompanied by his lovely wife Grace Hightower at the <em>Pirates of the Caribbean premiere</em> - and the pair were playing co-ordinating couple in matching monochrome.</p>

- Sarah Jessica Parker<p> SJP was having some floral fun at the premiere of <em>Wu Xia</em>, swirling and twirling around for the photographers in her gorgeous Elie Saab gown.</p>

- Candice Boucher<p> South-African model Candice Boucher wins the award for most daring dress so far this festival, stepping out in this sheer black number at the screening of <em>Footnote</em>.</p>

- Penelope Cruz<p> Before her big premiere appearance, Penelope Cruz got the flashbulbs going by flaunting her seriously impressive post-pregnancy figure in this navy velvet Stella McCartney dress, at the <em>Pirates of the Caribbean</em> photocall.</p>

- Vanessa Hudgens<p> Vanessa Hudgens is proving to be Cannes resident party girl so far this season. The actress was snapped enjoying herself at the Vitamin Water bash in this boho one-shoulder Fendi dress.</p>

- Sarah Jessica Parker<p> Sarah Jessica Parker joined the flurry of women in white on the red carpets at the moment, wearing this lace-hem Dolce & Gabbana frock to the Weinstein Company VIP party.</p>

- Cheryl Cole<p> Cheryl Cole stole the show at the premiere of <em>Habernus Papam</em> in her plunging Stephane Rolland gown.</p>

- Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson<p> On the second day of Cannes, the actress of night was Diane Kruger; she arrived at the premiere of <em>Sleeping Beauty</em> in this show-stopping Calvin Klein gown.</p>

- Rachel McAdams<p> After seeing McAdams in a spectacular Marchesa gown earlier on in the week, it was a surprise to see the actress arrive at the <em>Sleeping Beauty</em> premiere in a pair of Monique Lhuillier trousers. An unconventional option, but super chic at that.</p>

- Alexa Chung<p> Chung jumped on the all white bandwagon for her red carpet appearance in Cannes.</p>

- Aishwarya Rai Bachchan<p> Another gorgeous gown from Aishwarya Rai. This time it's Armani Privé.</p>

- Jane Fonda<p> She might be in her seventies, but Jane Fonda proved that she's still got it in this figure-hugging number from Emilio Pucci.</p>

- Hofit Golan<p> The socialite lit up the red carpet in this colourful creation.</p>

- Tilda Swinton<p> Swinton arrived at the <em>We Need to Talk About Kevin</em> premiere in a gown by one of her favourite designers, Haider Ackerman.</p>

- Mia Wasikowska<p> We love this look. Super sleek and sophisticated, by Roland Mouret of course.</p>

- Lara Stone<p> The model dazzled in a metallic dress at the Calvin Klein event. Shame about the sandals.</p>

- Uma Thurman<p> Thurman looked as gorgeous as ever at the Calvin Klein party.</p>

- Uma Thurman<p> Thurman rocked the red carpet in a fabulous Versace gown. her look was complete with a chic updo and emerald earrings.</p>

- Aishwarya Rai Bachchan<p> The actress looked sensational in Elie Saab Couture at the opening night premiere, <em>Midnight in Paris</em>.</p>

- Salma Hayek and Antionio Banderas<p> We can't decide if Salma's daytime Gucci look is a style hit or miss? If anyone can pull off the ruffled sleeved dress, it's Hayek. She posed with Banderas at a photo call for <em>Puss in Boots</em>.</p>

- Blake Lively<p> Current Chanel muse and general all-round fashion darling Blake Lively led the way at the Chanel Cruise Collection show in a glittering black jacket and super-short tulip skirt - all Chanel Couture, <em>naturellement</em>.</p>

- Rachel Bilson<p> Having recently collaborated on a short film with Karl Lagerfeld, it came as little surprise to see the beautiful Rachel Bilson at the Chanel event, showing off her perfect pins in Chanel leather shorts and pointed courts, teamed with a shimmering Chanel Couture top.</p>

- Laura Bailey, Alexa Chung and Poppy Delevigne<p> Check out this on-trend trio. Alexa Chung was flying the flag for the UK at the French soiree, in a floaty pink Chanel frock. The presenter was flanked by fellow Brits, models Laura Bailey and Poppy Delevigne.</p>

- Vanessa Paradis<p> Always the picture of perfection, long time Chanel devotee Vanessa Paradis was snapped arriving at the infamous Hotel du Cap in an embellished wide-leg jumpsuit.</p>
