BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: A series of strict and severe all-black pieces opened the show: cropped cashmere coats with fox fur epaulets and sequin braiding were worn with fishnet tights and laced-up, knee-high leather boots. Silk, georgette blouses with embroidered yokes and cameo brooches were tucked in velvet shorts, before jersey dresses with applique lace and brocade coats appeared. Sapphire and fuchsia shades were seen on lace embellished blouses but the best was saved until last: grand gowns with velvet and sequin embroidery closed the show.
VERDICT: Things got a little heavy and opressive with an abundance of black velvet, lace and leather but there were real moments of grandeur and opulence amongst this dark collection. With his reflection on the past, Gn made us think that when it comes to style, perhaps elegance and luxury are timeless after all.
