Canine Couture Meets 60s Minimalism At David Koma

IN A NUTSHELL: David Koma drew inspiration from from 'ancestral portraits, the slender elegance of the 1920s and the minimal fashion detailing of the 1960s' when creating his Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. Then, there was the slightly more abstract canine influence: 'portraits of dogs in aristocratic attire' and 'lithe greyhounds' - which were seen quite literally forming the sculptural heels of the shoes.

BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: A gorgeous cream pencil skirt with fur peplum (we're hoping faux) caught our eye, while we also loved the series of elegant flared trousers. Oh, and we really need some greyhound heels in our life (a result of a collaboration with Alain Quilici).

VERDICT: With his previous (and arguably, less wearable) collections having gone down a storm with the Hollywood set - Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue, Beyonce, Cheryl Cole and Rihanna are all fans - we can imagine there was a certain level of commercial expectation cast towards Koma this season. The result? All belted waists, peplum hips, exaggerated pleats and cut-outs - this it was a new, more grown-up feel from the David Koma woman. We wonder if she'll be as big a hit.
