Backstage Beauty: Osman Autumn/Winter 2012

Hairstylist Shon gave us a lesson in backcombing, backstage at Osman's Autumn/Winter show.

Shon worked with Bumble & Bumble to create an Orient-inspired look. "This came about by looking through the Osman collection, which has a modern haute couture look about it... this woman is young, cool and confident in her manner". The Japanese influence leant to a fresh, yet natural style this season, which Shon described as "slightly masculine, but not tomboyish".

So, now for the lesson in how to get the look. Shon spritzed Bumble & Bumble Thickening Spray from the roots to the ends to give body and add firm hold. Hair was dried naturally through the hands and once dry, the top section was backcombed to create volume (a diffuser was also used to encourage this and some models' needed a little extra backcombing through the sides).

Bumble & Bumble's Classic Hairspray was brushed in to keep the hair light and natural but it was kept narrow through the sides as Shon's aim with this look was volume not height. De-Frizz Spray was added at the end to give the look a soft, young and sophisticated finish. It's easy when you know how.
