White wash: A recurring trend on the New York catwalks. Photos:Getty
Oh, and we had a couple of celeb spots too, from Bar Refaeli and Stacy Keibler making friends, to Jessica Alba looking pretty darn hot. And, of course, not forgetting the new Victoria by Victoria Beckham collection...
See our highlights from the past 24 hours, here:
-
The Show: Proenza Schouler

The Down-Low: Never ones to fall in line, it was another daring collection from Proenza Schouler this season - a contrasting mix of oversized sillhouettes, luxe fabrics, asymmetric hemlines and opulent embroidery (plus lots of leather) featured throughout. And we loved it. We can imagine Proenza fans Kristen Stewart, Kate Bosworth and Alexa Chung snapping one of these pieces up in a second.

-
The Trend: White wash

The Shows: J Mendel, Marchesa

The Down-Low: Whether bridal gowns at Marchesa, or ice maiden at J Mendel, there was a flurry of snow white over New York yesterday. (Which quite frankly, was reflected by the freezing temperatures outside, too.)

-
The Look to Know: LBDs (Leather Black Dresses)

The Show: Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, Marchesa

The Down-Low: In contrast to the bright whites, there was also a return to that perennial Autumn/Winter favourite: black leather. At Michael Kors it was reincarnated in a lizard-finish two piece, at Proenza Schouler in high-shine full-lenth, and at Marchesa as a laser-cut skater dress. So something for everyone, then.

-
The Show: Michael Kors

The Front Row: A fiercely frocked-out Jessica Alba slipped backstage to congratulate the designer after his show, and had us seriously admiring her turqouise leather-cut-out mini. Is this the best she's ever looked? It's a close call...

-
The Show: Victoria by Victoria Beckham

The Down-Low: There was a slightly calmer, more muted colour palette for the second Victoria by Victoria Beckham season - but the youthful, unashamedly girlie aesthetic was still very much present - all pleated skirts, peter pan collars and whimsical prints. Only this time, it was mixed in with slightly more sobering shift dresses - all cuffed sleeves, rounded necklines and subtle graphic prints.

-
The Show: Marchesa

The Down-Low: Let's face it, the show-stopping red carpet dress is what Marchesa does best, and they delivered yet again for another season. In a regal palette of gold and red - with shots of blue and black - many of their fairytale tulle gowns took up the entire width of the runway. It's not a case of if an A-lister wears one of these frocks to the Oscars, but just how many we're likely to spot...

-
The Look to Know: Liquid satin

The Show: Michael Kors, Marchesa, J Mendel

The Down-Low: There's been a distinct return to classic elegance when it comes to formal wear on the New York catwalks. The rules? One colour, full-length, liquid satin. The result? Simply stunning.

-
The Show: Marchesa

The Front Row: Bar Refaeli and Stacy Keibler made front row friends at the Marchesa show, looking equally beautiful, equally blonde, and wearing equally covetable Marchesa dresses.

-
The Show: Michael Kors

The Down-Low: Michael Kors transported his audience away to a far flung ski chalet for his Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. Cold outside? You wouldn't feel it snuggled up in one of his all-encompassing coats - whether wool, tweed or fur. Still, the MK girl is never afraid to show a bit of skin, too... Classic Kors fare, we know it'll be another successful season for the NY designer

-
The Show: J Mendel

The Front Row: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made a formidable pairing on the J Mendel front row, dressed (unusually) almost identically in head-to-toe black. And in true fashionista fashion, neither removed their sunglasses the entire time.
