You've got to feel sorry for Guido. The hair styling legend (denoted by the fact that he doesn't require a surname) and his team had spent hours creating intricate plaited buns for the Marc Jacobs show - only for them to be covered up by a selection of the biggest fur hats ever invented (see below).

Did he mind? "Not really, actually I've quite enjoyed the fact that the pressure is off me - I'll let Marc off this once!" It wasn't entirely in vain though, just visible under the Boy George hats, a curtain of wispy hair cover the models' faces. "It's this mixture of innocence and dark that exists within her character, like a twisted fairytale", he explained.

This darkness continued to the makeup by Francois Nars, who made a rare personal appearance for his friend Marc (the only catwalk show he'll be working on all fashion week, apparently). "She's this really eccentric and mysterious woman from the 1920s who would take trips on the Orient Express," said Nars backstage, "but she has to be relevant to 2012, so to make her more modern we left the lips pale and focused everything on the eyes".

Strong black smoky eyes are "soft like a cloud, never harsh" and lip colour and blush are avoided at all costs. "This isn't about aggression, it's about decadence and drama and innocence".
