Good hair, bad hair. Kristin Wiig and Christina Hendricks at the Baftas 2012. Photos: PA
Christina Hendricks flaunted her fabulously famous figure in a gorgeous Vivienne Westwood design, but let's be honest; her unbrushed, dishevelled hair do let her down on the glamour front. We're guessing she's going through a bit of a Joan Holloway backlash, but a chic, swept-back updo would surely be a vast improvement on her chosen style for the night.
As for those that got their hair dos right, Kristin Wiig worked loosely curled locks, while Tilda Swinton wowed us once again with that Bowie-esque quiff. However, our favourite look of the evening? Star of The Descendants Shailene Woodley brought the top-knot back to the red carpet. Frankly, we loved it.
Take a look below to see which other stars got our vote for best hairstyles at the 2012 Baftas and see what celebrity hairstylist Charles Worthington had to say on the top looks from the night.
What was your favourite look from the night?
I absolutely love the modern take on the classic ballerina bun that I created on Jessica Brown-Findlay. Jessica's one of my favourite actresses of the moment and was the muse for the Charles Worthington Limited Edition BAFTA 25 Years Collection
What is the biggest hair trend from awards season so far?
This season we're seeing much more spontaneous hair on the red carpet. It's great to see hair looking much more playful , think loose chignons and the modern take on the classic ballerina bun that I created last night for Jessica Brown-Findlay.
How can we translate that trend to work off the red carpet?
These are probably the most realistic styles to translate to the everyday person going to a party or a special occasion as they don't require as much expertise as say a complicated chignon. If you're not sure how to achieve this, book into a lesson with your stylist on dressing your hair.
Which BAFTAs man had the best hair?
My favourite was definitely Chris O'Dowd who we styled in the Style Suites. It was great fun to style him, especially as I am such a big fan of Bridesmaids.
How much does the dress affect the hairstyle you create?
The dress definitely affects the hair style that we create. We work very closely with the actresses in the weeks leading up to an event like the BAFTAs, often creating several different hairstyles with each dress to create the perfect look. Often, if a dress has an intricate neckline that needs showing off, I'll style hair swept back off the face, or in a loose side chignon.
- Christina Ricci
Ricci's blunt fringe added a super chic touch to her crushed, metallic Givenchy gown.

- Edith Bowman
Bowman's 60s-inspired do looked oh so glam on the red carpet.

- Elizabeth McGovern
The Downton Abbey star's sleek, curled crop showed off her strapless gown perfectly.

- Joanne Froggatt
Note to Christina Hendrics: this is how to do the half-up, half-down do on the red carpet.

- Kristen Wiig
Wiig's loosely curled locks looked effortlessly elegant paired with her simple Ferretti gown.

- Meryl Streep
We don't usually see Streep wear such structured styles but we loved this scraped-back updo on the star.

- Shailene Woodley
Our award for best hairstyle of the night went to rising star Shailene Woodley. She proved that top-knots can be glamorous with this statement style.

- Tilda Swinton
Who else could pull off this Bowie-esque curled quiff?

- Jessica Brown Findlay
The Downton Abbey girls all got their hair right on the night, and we loved Jessica's classic ballerina bun, created by Charles Worthington especially for the event.
