We picked out our top names to watch from the pools of young talent currently making waves within the industry, and here are the ones that we think, you need to know about:
- Christopher Raeburn<p> A Royal Collage of Art graduate, Christopher Raeburn started out as a pattern cutter, before eventually setting up his own label. The recipient of the 2011 British Fashion Award for Emerging Menswear Designer, we're expecting big things from him for 2012.</p> <p> Aesthetic: "Innovative, functional and fun." - Thomas Tait<p> Canadian-born Thomas Tait crossed the pond to London to gain an MA in Womenswear at Central Saint Martins. Now three collections in, Tait was the recipient for the Topshop NEWGEN presentation sponsorship for LFW Autumn/Winter 2012, and was also one of the first designer collaborators in the ASOS Young Talent scheme.</p> <p> Aesthetic: Structure and silhouette-centric. - Charlie May<p> Prolific fashion blogger (and occasional MyDaily contributing stylist), Charlie May graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design from the university of the West of England and has previously worked with the likes of Louise Goldin and Thomas Tait. Charlie launched her debut design collection for S/S 12, and is expanding into ready-to-wear for A/W 12.</p> <p> Aesthetic: Monochromatic minimalist. - Simone Rocha<p> Daughter of John Rocha, you could say that Simone was born to carve out a career in fashion. But she proved that she's more than just a famous offspring, having gained a Fashion MA from Central Saint Martins and debuted via the Fashion East initiative for Spring/Summer 2011. Oh, and she's already got an A-list fan in the form of Lady Gaga, which isn't bad going.</p> <p> Aesthetic: Modern romantic. (or as Lady Gaga might put it, <em>Bad Romance</em>.) - CC Kuo<p> With a CV that boasts a background at ateliers such as Alexander McQueen, Preen and Margaret Howell, new kid on the block CC Kuo means business. Her graduate collection was hand-picked and styled by Katie Grand for a feature in POP magazine, shortly followed by her debut womenswear collection which launched in 2010.</p> <p> Aesthetic: Stylised, sophisticated luxury for the modern woman. - JW Anderson<p> Fast becoming a hot name on the London style scene is JW Anderson. Irish born Jonathan William Anderson originally wanted to become an actor, but discovered his flair for design through involvement with stage costumes. His debut menswear collection showed at London Fashion Week in 2007, which was soon followed by an inevitable progression into womenswear. The NEWGEN alumnus has also recently collaborated with Topshop on their <a href="http://www.mydaily.co.uk/2012/02/08/topshop-newgen-designer-10th-anniversary-t-shirt-collection/" target="_blank">charity T-shirt collection</a>.</p> <p> Aesthetic: Androgynous attire.
