The Australian actress is set to play Princess Diana in the upcoming film, Caught in Flight. Watts replaces Jessica Chastain, who was linked to the role last year.
Although filming is yet to begin, the biopic, directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, will focus on the last two years of Diana's life and her relationship with Hasnat Khan. Speaking about the role, Watts said, "It is such an honour to be able to play this iconic role - Princess Diana was loved across the world and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen".
The star is currently filming The Grandmothers in New South Wales. It looks like 2012 could be Naomi's year.
