Never one to turn down a fashionable gathering, Blake Lively made an appearance at Lady Gaga's Christmas Workshop opening last night, and did so in statement style.
Instead of embracing her inner Snow Queen a la Gaga, Blake opted for the simple-but-striking approach to styling, in a blue-purple two-piece Elie Saab suit with lace shoulder pads.

And of course, Blake being Blake, she opted out of wearing any form of shirt underneath.
If you think about it, it was quite a clever choice. There was no way she'd be able to out-dress Gaga at her own grotto opening, so a headline-grabbing dress was out of the question - but the bright colour meant she still got noticed, and the choice of wearing a slick suit is a noticeable enough departure from her usual thigh-grazing mini dresses that it ensures all us fashion watchers will pick up on it...
We suspect we may be over-analysing this a tad. She probably just liked the suit.
She likes it, we like it - but do you?
Check out Blake's top ten style moments of all time below:
In her first major film role since finding fame in Gossip Girl, Blake had a maxi moment for the 2008 world premiere of The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants in eye-catching tangerine Gucci. We knew from this moment she'd be one to watch...

Blake completely stole the show at the 2009 CFDA Awards in this amazing neon pink Michael Kors dress. We love that she's not afraid of a bold colour statement on the red carpet.

Blake indulged in some subtly-sexy back-flashing at the grand opening of the Swarovski Crystallized New York store back in June 2009. Sleek and stylish, we're in love with her figure-hugging Roberto Cavalli dress.

When you're blessed with a figure as envy-inducing as Blake's, then why not flaunt it? The actress almost upstaged the cast at the New York Sherlock Holmes premiere back in 2009, in this lace Dolce & Gabbana bustier dress. Loving the gold glitter Louboutins too.

A love it or hate it look from Blake, we were applauding her for trying something different in this shimmering high-neck Chanel dress, which she wore to the grand re-opening of the Chanel boutique in New York. Our vote? Love it.

La Lively went nude for a Lorraine Schwartz jewellery launch party at the end of 2010, in this high-octane Versace dress and towering Louboutin heels.

A firm fan of Marchesa, Blake chose one of their creations to walk the red carpet at the 2011 National Board of Review Gala. We're not sure which we love more: the intricate laser cut-outs and statement shoulders, the covetable Burberry heels, or the fact that she accessorised with such gorgeous turqouise jewels.

It wasn't just that stunning aqua Zuhair Murad gown that caught our attention at this year's Time 100 Most Influential People in the World Gala - check out those glossy auburn locks!

As the new face of Chanel, it was only natural that Blake join the style elite at the 2011 Costume Institute Gala. And what else would she be wearing, but Chanel?

We've said it before and we'll say it again: Blake knows the power of a good block-colour bright, as she so perfectly demonstated at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards in LA, in this eye-catching Michael Kors frock and colour-clash purple Louboutins.
