Literal street style: Lady Gaga poses in pigeon wing hat for Annie Leibovitz

Lady Gaga was spotted on the streets of New York wearing a selection of outfits from her dressing up box including a hat made from pigeon wings. The reason? A photoshoot with renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Leibovitz, whose previous celebrity sitters have included Demi Moore, the Kardashians, Miley Cyrus, and Kate Moss, was snapping the superstar for a Vanity Fair feature.

Gaga donned a selection of extravagant outfits to pose against a bustling city backdrop including pedestrians, newsstands and hotdog vendors. Juxtaposing couture and commonplace feels a little bit Art School 101 but Leibovitz has a tendency to make these things work so we're looking forward to seeing the results.

Proving she's a girl after our own hearts, when Gaga took an outfit-related tumble (either accidentally or as part of the shoot) she managed to keep a firm grip on her hotdog. Not a euphemism.

Oh, and if you're thinking of recreating her characteristically literal New York street style you might want to check out Reid Peppard's taxidermy jewellery - the pigeon wing hair comb in particular.
