Madagascar City Guide

Isolated from the rest of the world for centuries, the island of Madagascar is literally like nowhere else on earth – so it's perfect for a holiday off the beaten track. As well as the famous lemurs, there's the kind of white sand beaches which make you want to give it all up and live by the sea, great snorkelling, buzzing towns influenced by Africa and Asia and very cheap rum cocktails!

Roughly the size of France, you can't hope to visit the whole island in one trip, so start by heading north to discover the sights around cultural melting pot Diego Suarez before enjoying some sand and sea on Nosy Be, one of the smaller islands off the coast.
