Joining the ranks of short-haired actresses - including Michelle Williams, Cate Blanchett, and Carey Mulligan - Emma Watson has taken the plunge and swapped her long locks for a sleek and chic pixie cut.
In the black-and-white photo (left), Watson is a dead ringer for Mia Farrow in 60s horror flick Rosemary's Baby. But her new 'do is far from horrific, parted on one side with a hint of a fringe and subtle blonde highlights on top.
"I've wanted to do this for years and years; it's the most liberating thing ever," Watson writes on her Facebook wall.
The actress - and face of Burberry - was spotted showcasing her new androgynous look all over New York City during promotional duties for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I before heading back to study at Brown University in the autumn.
Watson joins a long line of actresses who've opted for a cute gamine crop. Pixie cuts have famously been seen on Katie Holmes, Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham and Halle Berry. The look first took hold in the 50s and 60s with fashionable fans Jean Seberg, Audrey Hepburn and Twiggy.
But how does Watson's cut stack up to the rest? Share your thoughts below!
